Baldwin County Commission's Affordable Housing Task Force, a group charged with studying the issue in the county There is a shortage of housing priced below $150,000, said Bob Higgins, co-chairman of the task force and vice president of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance. There are 4,000 unfilled jobs in the county, along with more than 15,000 retail and hospitality positions that are expected to be available in the next two years, Higgins said. "Some of the reason we don't have the jobs filled is because we don't have the housing," said Higgins, adding that there is also a shortage of rental units priced below $700 a month.
